If they have problems in one area of their lives, you&#8217;ll see it in sports.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, Johnson has children who are <strong>perfectionists,<\/strong> who fear failure, and who compare themselves to others-all <strong>confidence<\/strong> busters in sports!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She sees these qualities in their everyday lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a former top-level athlete who has had <strong>mental-toughness<\/strong> training, she deals with many of these issues by helping her kids adjust their goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, her oldest experiences fear of failure. He has a hard time applying himself. <em>&#8220;If he can&#8217;t get it right the first time, he will rather not try than fail. We have to constantly adjust his goals.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her son needs to work on things he doesn&#8217;t like to do. So Johnson gives him one small goal to work on, and has him <strong>focus<\/strong> on just that goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim is to have him improve in that area, experience <strong>success,<\/strong> and realize the work was worth it.
